AK Water Wise is a course created by the AK Office of Boating Safety, but taught by many certified instructors across the state. The goal of the course is to educate current and potential boaters on how to recreate safely, responsibly, and understand state regulations pertaining to boating in Alaska. This course is free and is approved by the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA)
Topics include: pre-departure preparations, boat operation, boating emergencies, cold-water survival, navigation rules, and boating laws. Students who complete the course and pass the written exam (optional) will be issued a course completion certificate.
