Alaska Water Wise Course - 2026 AK Wise Course
AK Water Wise is a course created by the AK Office of Boating Safety, but taught by many certified instructors across the state. The goal of the course is to educate current and potential boaters on how to recreate safely, responsibly, and understand state regulations pertaining to boating in Alaska. This course is free and is approved by the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA)Topics include: pre-departure preparations, boat operation, boating emergencies, cold-water survival, navigation rules, and boating laws. Students who complete the course and pass the written exam (optional) will be issued a course completion certificate.Included in our upcoming in-person course in April, we have local expertise joining us for a very interactive day of learning!Main instructors will be:Annie Grenier, Office of Boating SafetyKaty Pendell, Alaska Marine Safety Education AssociationStephanie Payne, Petersburg Parks and Recreation*Each main instructor are certified instructors for course content.
